Double skin for Parc Glòries building

Double skin façade for the Parc Glòries office building in Barcelona

Glories Park It is one of the largest office buildings from 22@ Barcelona, is spread over 17 floors and is located on the street City of Granada 150The facade is configured by a double skin with system of curtain wall R70ST and latticework of ceramic baguettes.

We can distinguish three different parts in the composition of this façade; curtain wall, ventilated façade and double skin of ceramic baguettesThe characteristics of the R70ST curtain wall system allow the coexistence on the same plane of both the different types of glass and openings, as well as the ventilated façade of ceramic piecesThe ventilated façade has a substructure that is anchored to the curtain wall system, through a frame assembled in workshop, while allowing the installation of the double skin through the open pit between elements.

The structure of the double skin is composed of steel brackets welded to anchor plates previously integrated into the main structure. These plates allow the attachment of “tramex” walkways that provide part of the solar protection and facilitate the maintenance of the façade.

The lattice of ceramic baguettes Reinforced internally by aluminium tubes, they form a module or frame that is fully assembled in the workshop for subsequent anchoring to the cantilever structure.

It is worth highlighting the Design optimization and generation of various profiles that are specifically adapted to the different needs of the façade, achieving a high-performance energy performance of the façade by combining different waterproof, insulation and protection elements. In addition, the R70ST system has the EPD certificate (Enviromental Product Declaration) so the façade becomes one of the elements that contribute to achieving the LEED environmental certification for the building.
