Riventi obtains the first curtain wall EPD certificate (Environmental Product Declaration), after carrying out the Life Cycle Analysis of its systems in accordance with ISO and UNE-EN standards certified by Tecnalia under the international EPD system
A EPD It is a Type III eco-label according to ISO 14025:2006 and EN 15804:2012, which shows the environmental profile of the products analysed at each stage of their life cycle. Internationally recognised, EPDs serve to provide information on the knowledge of the life cycle environmental impact of buildingsThis is possible because they are based on international standards, include a life cycle perspective (in the case of Riventi curtain wall systems, from cradle to gate with options), cover multiple environmental impact categories, and are independently verified and comparable within the same product category.
Building sustainability certification schemes, (LEED, BREAM, GREEN) positively value buildings that have products, materials or systems that have certified EPDs, awarding points to obtain these stamps.
The EPD obtained by Riventi is based on the life cycle analysis (ACV) carried out on a square metre of façade composed of a post and crossbeams, dividing the module into four quadrants. Four configurations have been studied, which respond to the various systems Riventi markets two variants each: four glass quadrants and three glass quadrants and one composite quadrant. The objective was to standardize and cover the various possibilities that can occur in the design and manufacture of a curtain wall in order to carry out the analysis. However, it is important to highlight that the wide variety of profiles Developed by Riventi, they adapt to multiple solutions and can cover inter-axis distances of up to 3 metres.
One of the highlights of the study carried out is the Sensitivity analysis on the different profile ranges marketed by Riventi, from the smallest, which adapt to small-sized modules, to the largest, used to create designs with large glazings.
In the LCA product stage, the most relevant component, in terms of environmental impacts, is the aluminum profile. In a curtain wall, therefore, design is fundamental, since an efficient use of the material, both structurally and aesthetically, can significantly influence the final result of the analysis of its life cycle. Riventi is prepared to respond flexibly to the aesthetic and functional requirements of any envelope proposal, providing tailor-made solutions that facilitate the integration of curtain wall systems into the building. with greater knowledge of the efficient and sustainable use of the material.
