Sometimes the apparent simplicity that can be observed in a building, such as in the curtain wall of the Pascual Maragall Foundation of Barcelona, designed by the architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, hides complexities that range from the material execution of the elements to their implementation.
From this work we can highlight three peculiarities that make it special within the trajectory of our company. Firstly, the façade of the building, as can be seen at street level, is a regular grid exposed concrete structure, closed by large-format glass panels. The most common, in the case of curtain walls, is to carry them out on the outside of the building, like a skin, remaining completely visible from the outside. In this case, the curtain wall It has been carried out inside the exposed concrete structure, which turns out to be the main element of the composition, leaving the curtain wall in the background. This design decision is accompanied by a much more complex execution on site, since, if we add the characteristics of the location of the building, it becomes a process that required a great deal of effort. skill.
Another element that requires precise calculations, correct production and subsequent execution, is the installation of Structural carpentry of projecting type parallel to the façade. This element, calculated to the millimetre to facilitate its opening without interfering with the concrete structure, was installed on site with great skill by our team of assemblers, who are highly knowledgeable about these elements and trained to make the necessary adjustments during the assembly process.
Finally, we would like to highlight the great achievement of managing to install a curtain wall with glass moulded using very tight curvature radii.
