On the occasion of the Architecture Week, the Official College of Architects of Madrid will present the 2016 COAM Awards to the winners on Thursday 6th. The aim of these awards is to recognise the quality of architectural work, good professional practice and exemplary initiatives that have contributed to the dissemination of the cultural values of architecture.
One of the awards has been given to Bayón Arquitectos for the Administrative Building for the General Directorate of State Assets of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Madrid, now the headquarters of the CNIIE and the INTEF. Our most sincere congratulations to Mariano and Pablo Bayón for their magnificent work, congratulations for this COAM 2016 Award and above all, many thanks to both of them for having made us part of this unique work that the jury recognized with the following words:
«A modular and flexible floor plan with a square, isotropic mesh structure, covered in an abstract and light skin, which is communicative and at the same time capable of finding the best environmental layout for the building, due to its cross-ventilation, acoustic attenuation, and its energy-saving and low-maintenance vocation. The non-aggressive, satiny, iridescent and changing appearance of its façades is understood as a backdrop to the landscape and as an aesthetic and intentional meeting with the Corrales and Molezún building with which it coexists on the same plot.»
